Goodness another year gone and what an exciting one it has been.  We had the great pleasure of going to the Houston Quilt Market trade show again to order lots of new stock and improve on our more traditional products.  Of course the quilt show was spectacular and the shopping pretty good. We have come back home with so many idea’s for projects and workshops and can’t wait to pass them on to our customers. 

New Stock
We were lucky enough to meet American quilt author Jo Patek and have bought her new Sample Spree block of the month, which you will be able to sign up for at the end of January.
We also had the great pleasure of meeting another quilt artist from the US Mary Koval and have a few signed books with 9 blue and white projects that are just beautiful.  She has a new red and white fabric collection coming out that we have ordered for the New Year including a panel for red work.  Mary lives in the beautiful state of Pennsylvania in the USA and has just opened a quilt retreat.  She is going to send us details. We will be looking into organizing a trip next year, watch this space. The places will be limited so let me know if you may be interested. We have the book of Petra Prins, a European author and designer. We have her new book and are ordering her new range of fabrics which have a very traditional country antique look. We now stock Quiltmania magazine and lots of their books.  Most of them are in French and English but the ones only in French have lots of photos’ and very clear instruction sheets with full size patterns. We also brought back books from the Kansas book company. While I’m on the subjects of books we also met Kay Whitt and brought back her new book Serendipity Bags.  It has patterns for 20 unusual bags everything from smart evening ones to practical everyday bags and even a neat lap top (nappy) bag. I have made my 18 year old daughter one of those which is going to be perfect for her to take her lap top to and from university.  It’s a surprise for Xmas so I hope she doesn’t read this but I’m not too worried about that as she is pretty busy with facebook, texting and hopefully uni work!

As you can imagine our biggest buys were fabric!! Just to list a few: Red Roaster; Andover (Makower); Loralie; and Lecien.  Some of our designs are not going to be brought over to the UK by everyone so you may find something a little different in our shop. We also have found some fantastic new wool felt and very cute patterns from a sweet young Irish couple, we had to laugh we met them in Houston and they only live over the Irish Sea. Our haberdashery and accessory stock has expanded by quite a bit. With patterns, quilt hangers and embellishing packs on order from Hill Creek Designs. 

 As some of you know, if you have been to our shop, we do love our bags and have two new suppliers of bag accessory and have a large order coming, including zips with charms, great handles, snaps to make some of the tempting bags from our patterns and books such as the talented Yoko Saito not to mention many others.

Tuesday 20 December Christmas Social -9:30-19.00 please join us for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.  Students work from the past year will be exhibited along with great offers and new arrivals including our block of the month and mystery quilt.
